ARIEL is co-financed by the INTERREG VB ADRION Programme 2014-2020. ADRION is a European transnational programme that works to promote cooperation and solidarity between eight Partner States: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. Its main goal is to act as a policy driver and governance innovator, fostering European integration among Partner States, taking advantage of their rich natural, cultural and human resources, as well as enhancing economic, social and territorial cohesion in the Adriatic and Ionian regions

Overall Objective

ARIEL aims to promote technological and non-technological solutions for innovation uptaking of small-scale fishery (SSF) and aquaculture (AQ) sectors among research policy entrepreneurs in the Adriatic-Ionian (AI) basin, taking into account in a single frame the complex ecological, economic and societal challenges.

Specific Objective

Set -up a long-term cooperation and knowledge network among the multilevel actors at regional and transnational level for innovation up-taking in small scale fisheries and aquaculture Support public administrations in developing favorable legislative and programming framework and science–based policies Support small scale fisheries and aquaculture enterprises in making their business more sustainable and competitive
